McLaren, the racing team based in Surrey, England, announced yesterday a long-term collaboration with Bitci.com, a Turkish crypto company.
Bitci.com is now officially a sponsor and partner of the British car manufacturer. The inked deal communicated on Wednesday didn’t specify the period of the partnership but detailed that a fan token will be issued by Bitci.com for McLaren.
This token will be the first of its kind and will give its holders voting rights on several decisions regarding the team. It will also give other benefits specific to specific sports clubs. The logo of the Turkish crypto firm will appear on racing cars and the helmets of the two drivers.
“We are delighted to announce Bitci.com as an official partner of our McLaren F1 team. This long-term partnership with the brand and our introduction of a fan token will be the first of its kind in this sport,” McLaren Racing Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Waller said.
The fan token issued by Bitci.com will be the first one issued by a motor racing sport and will work on the Bitci Chain.
“Formula 1 is among the most acclaimed and watched sports in the world,” stated Çağdaş Çağlar, Chairman at Bitci Technology. “The fact that McLaren Racing, one of the most outstanding teams and considered as one of the legends of Formula 1 all over the world with its successes, has chosen to work with a Turkish blockchain company for this project is very significant as this is the solid proof for the global success of Turkish entrepreneurs, engineers and software developers.”
